Face ProceduresWhy You Should Get a Brow Lift

Why You Should Get a Brow Lift

As we get older, it gets harder to keep the face’s tightness, especially the skin that surrounds the forehead, and that could lead to your eyebrow looking saggy.

Eyebrows are one of the outstanding features of the face. They outline the eyes, relay emotions and give explicit expressions. Therefore, you might consider getting a forehead rejuvenation to keep the skin from looking saggy and decrease all forms of wrinkles.

A brow lift, also called forehead rejuvenation, focuses on the forehead tissue, giving you a more youthful look. It involves shifting your brows to a more flattering position of your choice. You can decide to reposition your eyebrow or adjust the fine line and wrinkles from your forehead.

Certain benefits come with having a brow lift:

  • It reduces saggy upper eyelids
  • It restores the natural arch of your eyebrows
  • It removes excess skin from your face
  • It reduces the appearance of crow’s feet

A brow lift, also called forehead rejuvenation, focuses on the forehead tissue, giving you a more youthful look.

WHY SHOULD YOU UNDERGO A BROW LIFT?

Our skin loses its elasticity and the skin surrounding the brows as we grow older. The change in the eyebrows and face can give you a different expression on the front, making you look angry, grumpy or sad.

You should consider getting a forehead lift if you have excess skin around the forehead, making your upper eyelids sag. Getting a brow lift will give a more refreshing look and raise the eyebrows giving it an asymmetric look.

You should also consider a forehead or brow lift if you have deep horizontal creases across your forehead. Or have frown lines across the top of your nose or between your eyebrows, if you have too much fatty tissue hanging over your eyes and a low eyebrow position that gives information about your state of mind, attitude and maybe age.

ARE BROW LIFTS WORTH IT?

Brow lifts are a tested procedure of lifting the eyebrows’ texture, so many people consider it. Doctors believe that brow lifts last better and longer if they focus on the brow’s shape and height and connect it to the orbital rim.

Research has shown that the traditional brow lift can hold the brow muscle for 5years at least. Some people even believe that it is the only treatment that can help eliminate loose skin, arched brows, wrinkles and fine lines.

The traditional brow lift method is the right fit if you want long-lasting results because the worth of a forehead rejuvenation is dependent on its longevity.

HOW LONG DOES EYEBROW LIFT LAST?

Even with a brow lift, as you age, the skin surrounding the forehead continues to sag. But ideally, your brow lift results would last for about ten to fifteen years.

You can, however, minimize the sagginess by the regular use of sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher.  Cosmetic procedures like therapy to increase collagen production and tighten your skin.

BEST AGE TO GET A BROW LIFT?

Even though younger people- who have a genetic deposition to deep worry lines between the brows also consider brow lift, the ideal age for a brow lift are between the ages of 35-65.

Although, as much as the age-range stands, if you feel like you are always looking tired, not like what you see in the mirror, or your wrinkles are becoming prominent, you should talk to your doctor about your options.

DOES A BROW LIFT MAKE YOUR EYES BIGGER?

Although a brow lift will give an unmistakable look of firmness and youth to your face, it does not make the eyes bigger. Except you have a blepharoplasty (a surgery to make your eyes look bigger by taking off excess skin around the eyes to lift sagging skin), no surgery can make your eyes bigger.

RISKS INVOLVED WITH DOING A BROW LIFT

Of course, no surgery takes place without risks.  The risks that come with having a brow lift include:

  • Changes in the skin sensation
  • Infections
  • Scarring that might be visible after the brow lift
  • Hairline loss or elevated hairline
  • Asymmetrical position of the brows.
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO BEFORE GETTING A BLOW LIFT

Like any other surgery, it is crucial to be in general good health before you undergo a brow lift. There has to be a significant lifestyle change before the day. You might need to avoid smoking, alcohol, and some types of medications like anti-inflammatory or aspirin- that could increase bleeding.

Also, you might need to trim or cut your hair if it’s a long one; this is to avoid the hair getting in the way of the surgery.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING AND AFTER DOING BROW LIFT?

The procedure will either be done at the hospital, surgeons office or outpatients surgery facility. It shouldn’t take more than two hours. However, due to the anesthesia and the pain you might undergo for the first few days, you might need someone to be with you during the procedure and a couple of days afterwards.

Usually, the doctor uses local anesthesia, but you can request general anesthesia to put you to sleep. After the operation, the surgeon will close the incisions with staples and stitches, clean the area and bandage your face.

You should expect to be in minimal pain after the procedure; bruising, swelling and numbness will be consistent for the first few days- your doctor should prescribe a painkiller for that. And this would go away within a few days.  Any form of discomfort you feel should go away after a week; that is about the time your doctor will remove your staples and stitches. And in two weeks, you should be able to go back to your routine.

After the surgery, you should avoid vigorous exercises for a few weeks. It is possible to have swelling even in places that were not operated on, but it will be gone within a week. You can apply ice packs to the swollen region, and it would be best if you kept your head elevated to help ease the swelling.

Recovery after a brow lift procedure hugely depends on your recovery rate or the type of procedure you had. It is essential to follow your surgeons’ instructions on caring for your incisions and changing your bandages.

You should report any persistent swelling or numbness after a week within the surgery date.
