The Silhouette Procedure
Neck and Jawline Rejuvenation in Austin, TX
Silhouette is Wellspring’s minimally invasive approach to the neck and jawline, developed by Dr. Jeffrey Cone for patients who want visible refinement without committing to a full neck or face lift. It is not a single treatment. Silhouette is a planned combination of up to three components, selected based on what is actually causing the change you see in the mirror: precision liposuction to address small fat deposits, Renuvion® subdermal tightening to contract the tissue beneath the skin, and suture suspension of the platysma muscle to restore support along the jawline.
Which of those you need depends entirely on your anatomy. Some patients need all three. Some need tightening only. Deciding that correctly is the whole point of the consultation, and it is why this procedure is planned by a board-certified plastic surgeon rather than sold as a package.
Silhouette is Wellspring’s own name for this procedure. It is not related to Silhouette InstaLift® or any thread lift product.

Who the Silhouette Procedure Is For
You may be a good candidate if you:
• Notice early jowling or a softening jawline
• Have mild to moderate loose skin in the neck
• Are bothered by fullness under the chin
• Have lost weight and have some residual neck laxity
• Want real improvement but a shorter recovery than a full lift
• Are not ready for neck or face lift surgery
A neck lift may serve you better if you:
• Have significant excess skin in the neck
• Have pronounced platysmal banding
• Want the most complete and longest-lasting correction available
What the Silhouette Procedure Includes
Three tools, used in the combination your anatomy calls for.
Small, targeted fat deposits under the chin and along the jawline can blur the transition between the face and the neck. When those deposits are contributing to the contour, removing them precisely is often the single biggest change. Not every patient needs this step.
Learn about Submental Liposuction →
Through a tiny entry point, Renuvion delivers a combination of helium plasma and radiofrequency energy directly into the collagen-rich layer beneath the skin, causing controlled contraction that helps the skin lie smoother and closer to the contours underneath.
Renuvion is cleared by the FDA for use in subcutaneous procedures to improve the appearance of lax skin in the neck and submental region, which is precisely the application used here.
How Renuvion works →
The platysma is the broad sheet of muscle running across the neck. As it loosens with age, it can produce visible vertical banding and a loss of definition along the jaw. Where appropriate, Dr. Cone places sutures to restore support to this layer, which addresses a structural cause that no energy device can reach on its own.
Renuvion is the technology. Silhouette is our neck and jawline procedure that uses it.
Where Silhouette Fits
There is more than one way to address a neck, and the right answer depends on how much laxity you actually have. Here is how the options compare.
| Non-invasive skin tightening | The Silhouette Procedure | Neck Lift | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best for | Very mild laxity, maintenance | Early to moderate laxity, mild jowling | Significant excess skin and banding |
| How it works | Energy applied to the skin surface | Minimally invasive, works beneath the skin | Surgical removal and repositioning |
| Access | No entry points | Entry points a few millimeters wide | Surgical incisions |
| Anesthesia | None | Local with light sedation, typically | General or IV sedation |
| Sessions | A series | Usually one | One |
| Downtime | Minimal | Days to weeks | Several weeks |

Individual results vary. Your surgeon will recommend the option that fits your anatomy and goals.
Very few practices in Austin can offer all three under one surgeon. That means when we recommend one over another, we have no commercial reason to steer you toward the option we happen to sell.

Step 4 — Recovery & Follow-Up
You will go home with clear aftercare instructions and scheduled follow-ups so we can monitor healing and keep your recovery on track.
Step 5 — Results & Refinement
Early improvement appears as swelling settles, with continued refinement over the following months.
Recovery and Results
Downtime
Most patients find swelling and soreness are most noticeable during the first two weeks, then improve steadily. Many return to desk work within about a week. Your exact timeline depends on your anatomy and your plan, and we will walk you through it before you schedule.
Results timeline
- Early improvement: as swelling begins to subside
- Ongoing refinement: continued tightening and contour definition
- Final settling: typically six to nine months, as tissues fully heal and mature
Results vary from patient to patient and depend on your skin quality, the degree of laxity treated, and your aftercare. Silhouette does not stop the aging process.

Frequently Asked Questions
Silhouette is Wellspring’s minimally invasive approach to neck and jawline rejuvenation. Depending on your anatomy, it may combine precision liposuction, Renuvion subdermal tightening and platysma suture suspension, all planned and performed by Dr. Jeffrey Cone.
No. Silhouette is our own name for this procedure and it is unrelated to Silhouette InstaLift or any thread lift product. Thread lifts use absorbable barbed sutures placed to lift tissue. Silhouette works differently, using subdermal energy to contract tissue, with liposuction and platysma suspension where indicated.
It is minimally invasive rather than non-surgical. Access is through entry points a few millimeters wide instead of the incisions a full lift requires, and recovery is generally shorter. It is still a procedure performed in a medical setting, and we would rather be precise about that than oversell it.
Surface skin tightening devices apply energy to the outside of the skin, which limits how much reaches the deeper tissue where laxity originates. Silhouette works beneath the skin and can also address fat and muscle laxity, which no surface device can reach. They suit different patients, and we offer both.
No. Dr. Cone may recommend liposuction if small fat deposits are contributing to your contour, but some patients need tightening only. This is decided during your consultation based on your anatomy, not chosen from a menu.
That is exactly what the consultation is for. If your anatomy and goals would be better served by a traditional neck lift, we will tell you plainly. We take a right-procedure-first approach and recommend the option that matches your tissue laxity, your desired outcome and your downtime preferences.
Most people resume day to day activities within days to a couple of weeks, with the first two weeks being the most swollen and sore. Your surgeon will give you a specific timeline based on your plan.
Refinement builds as collagen remodels. Many patients see fuller results by six to nine months.
Our goal is a refined, natural-looking neckline rather than an operated-on appearance. Your plan is tailored to your anatomy with a focus on balanced contouring and subtle tightening, so you look like a rested version of yourself.
In many cases, yes. Some patients combine neck rejuvenation with complementary facial procedures for a more balanced overall result. Whether that is appropriate depends on your anatomy, timeline and plan.
