Lip Lift
A lip lift is an in-office surgical procedure that shortens the space between the nose and the top of the lip, known as the “philtrum.” The procedure increases the amount of pink tissue that’s visible which makes the lips look fuller and more pronounced. It also increases how much of your upper central teeth show when your lips are resting. It’s a good option for people who want to add height instead of volume to their lips.

The Procedure
Who’s a good candidate for a lip lift?
A lip lift can be a good option for older people who want to reduce the space between the lips and the nose. With age, this space typically increases and can make lips look thinner. It is also a great option for a younger person who hasn’t achieved the look they want from fillers, or if they find that fillers make their lips look unnaturally plump or duck-like, may prefer a lip lift. Lip lifts are also a permanent solution, so they can be helpful for people who are tired of the upkeep of filler.

Frequently Asked Questions
If you’re not having any other treatments done so you’re not undergoing IV sedation or general anesthesia, a subnasal lip lift is a minor outpatient procedure that takes about 30 minutes.
The procedure may be quick, but the recovery takes a bit of time. Our patients don’t usually return to work for about a week following the treatment, at which time the stitches are removed, and any bruising has disappeared.
You’ll want to wait about a week to return to any strenuous activity, but light exercise, such as taking a walk the day after surgery, will help to reduce swelling and any discomfort. Avoid doing anything that puts pressure on the lip and nasal area for a couple of weeks.
The results can be seen almost immediately after the operation. However, you should expect some swelling and bruising for the first week or so. The final outcome should be visible around 2-3 weeks after the surgery.
The location and visibility of the scar depend on the surgical technique. Incisions are made at the base of the nose and sometimes at the top of the lip for an upper lip lift. The discreetly placed scar should eventually fade until it is barely noticeable to the naked eye.
Anyone who would like to plump up their upper lip is a good candidate for a lip lift. Scheduling an appointment in which the facial cosmetic surgeon can assess your overall health as well as your facial anatomy and goals for your lips is the first step to take in your lip enhancement journey.
The sky’s the limit! Facial surgeries and cosmetic treatments that can be combined with a subnasal lip lift range from facelifts and connective tissue grafts to lip augmentations and fillers. For example, further volume can be augmented with injectable fillers if desired. During your consultation, a comprehensive treatment plan will be established.
