We can’t promise that your post-spa glow will last forever, but what if we told you that there are a few simple things that you can implement into your routine to ensure that you maintain the post-spa glow for even longer?
DRINK PLENTY OF WATER
During a spa or facial treatment, your technician is intentionally removing unwanted toxins from your skin. In order to maintain your glow, you must continue flushing out toxins for days post-treatment. The most efficient way to do so is to drink a ton of water. Experts recommend drinking at least 8-10 glasses of water on a daily basis. Trust us, you will definitely see the benefits in fewer fine lines, more energy, and more glow.
KEEP SKIN HYDRATED
In order to maintain your post-spa glow, it is essential to not only keep your body hydrated but your skin as well. Make sure you are utilizing quality moisturizers and serums for the days post-treatment to keep your skin from drying out.
REFRAIN FROM TOUCHING YOUR FACE
Your hands carry millions of germs, and when you touch your face, this transfers all of the dirt, bacteria, germs, etc., from your hands onto your freshly treated face. Your skin is extra sensitive after treatment, and touching your face even for a moment could result in new breakouts or irritations. Pay careful attention to your movements and try your best to avoid touching your face!
GO WITHOUT MAKEUP
Post-treatment, your face will likely be red, and it can be tempting to want to cover the redness with concealer or foundation. Instead, allow your face to “breathe” and avoid wearing makeup. Avoiding makeup will allow the products used during your treatment to penetrate more effectively into your skin.
*Pro Tip: When you get home from your treatment, wash your makeup brushes and applicators to avoid transferring any unwanted bacteria to your face.
WASH YOUR FACE GENTLY (AFTER 24-HOURS)
After treatment, the last thing you want to do is wash your face immediately. Allow your skin to soak the products. After 24 hours, you can wash your face gently with your regular cleanser. Keep in mind that your face is more sensitive than usual after treatment and is more prone to irritation.
TAKE-HOME PRODUCTS
We recommend taking home a few specific products to help build on the results from your spa treatment. These products include:
Glow Getter and Triple to the C.
Glow Getter is a brightening skin exfoliate that contains Phytic, Lactic, and Azelaic acids. The easy-to-apply pad facilitates uniform application to broad skin surfaces.
Triple to the C contains a form of Vitamin C clinically demonstrated to improve skin appearance. The antioxidant cocktail of Vitamins C & E, paired with a penetration-enhancing hydroxy acid ester, makes it among the most potent formulas available.
These dynamite products will extend your post-spa glow for weeks and are great to implement into your skincare regime.
AVOID SUN EXPOSURE
As a general rule of thumb, dermatologists recommend that you avoid direct sun exposure. However, it is even more critical after a spa or facial treatment as your skin is more sensitive and your pores are more open. Further, suppose your treatment included glycolic/salicylic acid peels and microdermabrasion. In that case, it is even more imperative that you avoid the sun as these products and treatments make your skin more susceptible to damage.
Always wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen of at least 30. We love this because it contains antioxidants Melanin, Vitamins C, E, and Ferulic acid ester leaving your skin protected and dewy. For further protection, wear a facial covering like a hat, and remain in the shade when possible.
All of the recommendations we provided are excellent for maintaining a post-spa glow. However, nothing in your skincare arsenal can equate to professional treatment. If you have the time and resources, book your next appointment. Your skin will thank you, and so will your confidence!
