Breast Lift (Mastopexy) Procedure in Austin

Breasts, just as any part of the human body, eventually lose their elasticity. A breast lift procedure (Mastopexy) is often a great solution for patients to counter sagging breasts resulting from age or other reasons like childbirth or nursing. Our breast lift procedures, performed in our Austin office, improve the shape and firmness of breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the new breast contour.

Breast Lift Procedure Options

There are two primary options patients have when it comes to breast lift procedures.

  1. The most common procedure involves creating an anchor-shaped incision around the natural contour of the breast.
  2. The doughnut breast lift (concentric) involves creating an incision around the areola and removing a doughnut-shaped area of skin.

The number and length of the incisions created depends on how much of a lift a patient needs. If the amount of lift required is considerable, the anchor-shaped incision is usually the preferred option.

The anchor-shaped option involves three different incisions; around the areola, vertically from the nipple to the bottom of the breast and along the underside of the breast. These incisions create flaps from which excess skin is removed.

What is a No Scar Breast Lift?

With a breast lift there is always an incision made therefore there is always a scar. However, scarring can be minimalized or hidden which has resulted in people discussing a “no scar breast lift.” Where incisions are made and certain surgical techniques can greatly minimize scarring as can postoperative scar care. As each person is different it is important to first consult with a doctor about a breast lift procedure and your aesthetic goals.

Who Qualifies?

Most patients who qualify for this procedure are between the ages of 30 and 60 and desire to enhance the appearance of their breasts. Patients may choose a mini breast lift as part of a post-mastectomy breast reconstruction to enhance breast symmetry with the opposite reconstructed breast.

How Long Does a Breast Lift Surgery Take?

Breast lift surgery can take between two to three and a half hours to complete.
