Cellulite Solutions – How This Common Worry Can Be Transformed with Minimal Downtime

As the weather continues to heat up, more men and women across the United States are preparing for a season spent outdoors, at the beach, and enjoying the warm temperatures. Warmer temperatures also mean more time spent in shorts, dresses, and bathing suits, giving more opportunities to show skin that pants or sweaters would otherwise cover.

For many, the thought of showing more skin produces waves of anxiety and apprehension because of skin-related insecurities. Mirabelle Spa aims to provide ways to make our clients feel beautiful, confident, and optimistic about their bodies. This is why our dedicated team members are extensively trained in laser services specifically designed to address and improve the four major contributing factors of skin aging – laxity, texture, tone, and volume loss.

Today, we are discussing in detail the laser skin tightening treatments that we offer at Mirabelle Spa, as well as some of our most frequently asked questions. By the end of this post, we hope you can better understand skin tightening treatments and feel empowered to take the next steps in your skin journey.

For many, the thought of showing more skin produces waves of anxiety and apprehension because of skin-related insecurities.

WHAT IS CELLULITE?

Cellulite is relatively common and is a medically harmless skin condition that caused “lumpy,” dimpled skin on various parts of the body, more predominantly seen on the thighs, hips, and buttocks areas.

Cellulite is more prevalent in women than men as women are more likely to carry excess weight in these areas.

WHAT CAUSES CELLULITE?

Arguably, little is know about the development and causes of cellulite. Most studies state that the causes of cellulite involve the fibrous connective cords that tether the skin to the underlying muscle. As fat cells accumulate (i.e., weight gain or hormonal changes), the fat cells push upwards against the skin.

In contrast, the fibrous connective cords are simultaneously pulling downward. These actions, in tandem, create the uneven skin surface or dimpling known as cellulite.

It is also important to note a significant genetic/hormone factor in cellulite, as genetics determine your skin structure, texture, and body type. Aside from this genetic piece, muscle tone and weight contribute to the causation of cellulite.

Although, contrary to popular belief, any person, regardless of weight, can have cellulite.

HOW CAN YOU TREAT CELLULITE?

We often see people attempt to reduce the appearance of cellulite through a healthy diet, creams, and regular exercise. Success is largely dependent on the person. However, results from these efforts are typically minimal.

For longer-lasting skin tightening or fat reduction, often medical-grade treatment is required.

At Mirabelle Spa, we successfully treat cellulite and tighten skin with a combination of advanced radio frequency (RF) technology and Pulsed Electro Magnetic Fields (PEMF).

WHAT IS RF/PEMF?

RF and PEMF technology is a non-invasive treatment and provides optimal results in cellulite reduction and skin tightening.

RF is designed to deliver pulses in phases to maintain optimal temperatures while simultaneously providing targeted heat below the skin’s surface.

PEMF delivers quick pulses of electricity over the treatment area. These pulses induce magnetic fields through the skin barrier to alter the electrical charge of the dermal cells (the layer of skin between the epidermis and subcutaneous tissues).

These combined technologies promote healthy blood flow and collagen and elastin fiber production in laymen’s terms, resulting in smoother and firmer skin and fat reduction in the targeted treatment area.

HOW LONG DOES TREATMENT TAKE?

Depending on the size of the treatment area, the actual process time will vary. Generally, patients can expect to undergo a weekly series of treatments over the course of 6 to 10 weeks for maximum results.

Most patients find that RF/PEMF treatments are comfortable, and some even fall asleep during treatment. Often, the treatment is compared to a hot stone massage. However, only you know your pain tolerance. During your consultation, ask your provider if you are concerned about pain levels and what the specific time frame looks like for you.

Further, because there is little to no discomfort, there is no downtime following the procedure, and you can expect to go about your normal day-to-day activities afterward.

HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS LAST?

Although following the first treatment, you can expect to see a noticeable difference in the texture and smoothness of your skin. You will continue to see improvements for months after your last treatment as your skin continues to produce new collagen!

For most patients, results last for a minimum of 6 months but will last longer if you continue ongoing treatments or touch-ups.

If you suffer from cellulite, you aren’t alone! Over 90 percent of women have cellulite at some point throughout their life, with most women developing cellulite after puberty. With no downtime and minimal discomfort, RF/PEMF is an excellent way to shrink fat cells and stimulate new cell growth for noticeably tighter skin. The treatment is also safe for all skin tones.
