Noninvasive (or minimally invasive) cosmetic procedures are skyrocketing.  From 2000 to 2016, they increased 180%, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). So, if you are searching for the facial fountain of youth, but are squeamish about going under the knife, these types of procedures may be right up your alley.

But many question if noninvasive procedures render the same effects of traditional surgery, like a facelift. The experts say advancements in technology, and the improved products used in conjunction, are proving that minimally invasive procedures can hold their own results-wise.

Along with minimal to no recovery time, noninvasive procedures typically carry a lighter price tag, so there is less of a financial commitment.

Just remember these options don’t last forever, so there’s a commitment to a series of treatments if you want to see continued results.

In 2016, according to the ASPS, the top three noninvasive procedures performed were:

  • Botox injections: to eliminate crow’s feet, forehead furrows, frown lines, and skin bands on the neck
  • Facial fillers: to plump and smooth fine lines and wrinkles, as well add fullness to sagging spots or thinning areas such as the lips
  • Chemical peels: to exfoliate skin and leave it with a brighter, smoother, more evenly-pigmented appearance
