It’s time to make space for men in the waiting room…of your plastic surgeon’s office? That’s right.

New stats from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) show that cosmetic surgery procedures being performed on men are steadily on the rise.

Male cosmetic surgery has increased by 28 percent since 2000. Last year, men accounted for eight percent of all procedures performed in the U.S.

With shorter recovery times, and more affordable price tags, cosmetic surgery is becoming an attractive option for men taking pride in their appearance.

With the most competitive job market the country has seen in some time, and a dating scene that’s even more cutthroat, the pressures to look professional and your physical best are exceedingly high.

Also, the rise of the ‘metrosexual’—a man who is interested in looks, fashion, and grooming—has contributed to more males wanting to get ‘a little work done.’

Research shows that men tend to focus on improving their body first, and then facial features.

Liposuction is one of the most popular procedures requested to address jiggly love handles and beer bellies. Facial fillers,  Botox, and Kybella, are a close second for eliminating wrinkles. Chin surgery for men (to take care of a double chin) is also popping up on many surgeon’s radars.

As with any cosmetic surgery procedure, whether you are a male or female, make certain that you are being treated by a board-certified plastic surgeon. If you are considering plastic surgery in Austin, contact Wellspring for an appointment with one of our three board-certified plastic surgeons.
